The celebrations alluding to the "National Culture Day" which is celebrated on 8 January of each year, representing an exercise that leads us to reflect on the deeper aspects of our identity. Our home, our past, present and this future increasingly global that has seized every day, should function as a combination of experiments designed to allow not ever write off, our peculiarities as Angolans.

Exactly three decades, during the act of taking possession of the new governing body of the Angolan Writers Union - U.E.A held exactly on 8th January 1979, Dr. António Agostinho Neto, our patron, defended the importance of the Angolan culture.

defining it as follows:

" The Angolan culture is African, Angolan and is especially so when we consider outrageous the way our people were treated by Portuguese intellectuals

The culture of the Angolan people, is now made up of pieces ranging from urban to rural areas treated only lightly touched by the assimilation of European culture.

Culture evolves with the material conditions and each step represents a form of expression and realization of cultural acts. The culture results from the material situation and the state of social development. "

Thus was born what is now officially enshrined as the " National Culture Day "
