The Foundation
Fundation Dr. António Agostinho Neto - FAAN, was proclaimed on September 14, 2007 at the Palace of Congresses, in Luanda a ceremony attended by His Excellency Engineer José Eduardo dos Santos, President of the Republic and hundreds of guests and popular.
Based in Luanda, Rua Major Kanhangulo, No. 10, Municipality of Ingombotas, FAAN has the fundamental aim of promoting research and dissemination of life and work of Dr. António Agostinho Neto. As complemental objectives FAAN will develop activities to improve the "welfare" and the living conditions of Angolans, and the promotion of education, science, technology and culture, to encourage creativity and innovation of all kinds and under all forms of scientific and technological research, development of activities that help the human development and protection of human rights.
Mrs. Maria Eugénia Neto widow of the founder of the Nation and Patron of FAAN is the President of the Council of Founders and Dr. Irene Alexandra Neto acting as Chairman of the Board of Directors. According to the President of the Foundation, the institution will continue to develop the work of Dr. António Agostinho Neto, adapting them to changing times and Men, allowing future generations a knowledge of the achievements of the Founder of the Angolan nation. It should be noted that the proclamation of the institution occurred 28 years after death of his patron, to fill the gap on the dissemination of his life and work.
